Infernal Dust
If a run paid less dust, check the reward tier first. Tier 1 is 210 and tier 6 is 1,000.
The Infernal Dust page says this material drops from District 7 boss rush and from nowhere else in the researched set. Reward tiers 1 through 6 pay 210, 240, 370, 530, 700 and 1,000 dust.
The secret banner on that mode costs 100 dust a pull and 1,000 dust for ten. Pity is 300 pulls, which is 30,000 dust, and the featured unit is Crimson Captain. See Benimaru / Crimson Captain.
A smaller payout is the tier gap, almost five times from 210 to 1,000. The wiki does not describe a random tax or a hidden penalty. Boss gates let you clear up to two gates before the final boss and they grant buffs, but the page does not say the gate count changes the dust number itself.
I would climb a tier only when the clear is stable. Official autoplay settings are on the autoplay page. Third-party macros are a terms risk, and this page does not link any.
Questions
Why do I sometimes get less Infernal Dust?
The published reason is the reward tier. Tier 1 pays 210 and tier 6 pays 1,000. No random penalty is written on the wiki page.
